On motion from Bruce, seconded by John, the minutes of meeting held 8/8/2023 were approved.

A motion to approve Treasurer’s report was made by John and seconded by Mike.

Old Business

We received a $5,000.00 donation from the Estate of John Thomas Finley. Carolyn will send a thank you letter. We also received a donation from PayPal for $244.53.

New Business

The brochures and letterhead are in the process of being updated with the new board member names. Marietta Labauve will be delivering brochures to the schools next week.

Guest speakers will be invited to future Shining Light Board meetings. Tentative for next meeting is a speaker from CASA.

The Shining Light Facebook page has been updated with the announcement that we are accepting scholarship applications for the new school year for Lafayette Parish students up to 8^th grade.

Scholarships:

The board previously approved an application for saxophone from Prairie Elementary for D’Jarion Francis for $300.00 who is in the 5^th grade. The parent is funding $100.00 of the total $400.00. Sandra has sent the approval notification to Ms Stephanie Helms/Counselor, along with the approval letter for the parent to bring to Prof Erny’s.
