MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Tuesday, February 15, 2023 at 6:00 pm

On motion from Julie, seconded by Michelle, the minutes of meeting held 1/10/2023 were approved.

A motion to approve Treasurer’s report was made by Julie and seconded by Michelle.

 

New Business

Renee Moreau was unanimously approved as a new member of the Shining Light Foundation board. June Brillhart also sent notification that she is resigning from the board.  

 

Michelle Marne indicated that the LPSS counselors will have a meeting on 3/31/2023.    She will get more details on the time and place.   Michelle will also bring SLF brochures.

 

Scholarships:

On motion by John and seconded by Julie, the board unanimously approved the applications received from Milton Elementary and Myrtle Place Elementary School as follows:

$     25.00 Emerald Pierre – Kindergarten – class fees – Milton Elementary

$     25.00 Sapphire Pierre – Kindergarten – class fees – Milton Elementary

$1,500.00 for five students in 5th Grade going to Martinique from Myrtle Place Elementary

2)     Sophie Hanks

3)     Dontasia Lawrence

4)     Santiago Nieto

5)     Mohamed Sadou

NOTE:  Although Ms Odile Jean requested funds of $1,400.00 per student, the board elected to make a contribution of $300.00 per child for a total of $1,500.00.  Carolyn will send a letter with the checks to the principals at Milton Elementary and Myrtle Place Elementary School.  It was suggested that when the Myrtle Place Elementary School students return from their trip, that John will invite them to the Radio Station along with the Shining Light Board members so they can meet.

 

Meeting adjourned at 6.45 pm.  Next meeting date will be held on March 14, 2022, at Live Oak Wealth Advisors, 1042 Camelia Blvd., Suite 11, Lafayette, LA.  Refreshments at 5:30 pm.
