New Business:

Carolyn introduced our two new Shining Light Board Members.  Mary Morrison is Past President of the Lafayette Parish School Board and currently serves as a School Board Member for District 1.  Mary is also an Academic Advisor for the South Louisiana Community College and a member of the Beard Congregational Historical Society. Michelle Mahne is the ON TRACK by 5LPSS Marketing Specialist for Early Education.

The Shining Light Letterhead has been updated by Julie.  Bruce will update the Board Member List on the Shining Light Foundation website.

Applications - John Broussard received an application from Lafayette High School for student Ahmed Elgamel who is in the 10th grade.  Ahmed has been a Principal List student since kindergarten, has a 4.0 GPA and is enrolled in the Gifted Program.  His academic achievement needs to be accomplished with extra curricular activities.  He is a foster child to a single mother with 3 children and no support.  The request is for $305.00 from Shining Light.  Ahmed will contribute $40 for the $345 fee for the Wrestling Club.  Although this is outside the Kindergarten through 8th grade range for Shining Light, Perry made a motion to approve as a Special Project and Julie seconded. The board unanimously approved.  The application requires a signature from the principal and teacher/counselor.   Michelle will send the contact information for the Lafayette High School principal Dr. Rachel Brown.   Carolyn will contact the school.   It was suggested that someone from Shining Light meet with the student to present the check payable to the Lafayette High School.
