MINUTES of MEETING HELD: Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 6:00 pm

On motion from Mike, seconded by Cynthia, the minutes of the meeting held Tuesday, August 10., 2021 were approved.  We had a guest, Addyson Eaton (5th grader) who briefly joined the meeting.

Treasurer’s Report

Balance:  $11,558.68

Scholarships: $3,550.00; Expenses: $329.33; Donations: $798.22; Interest: $1.46; Escrow: $375.00;  Invested: $86,030.26 as of 8/31.   

New Business

1) Carolyn and Cheryl had sent emails to board members to verify their contact information and indicate their level of interest in continuing as a board member.  Only a few have replied.  Cheryl will follow up with those who have not responded.  Mike had suggested we start thinking of candidates who may be interested in becoming a new board member.  Cheryl said that Lana, June, and Misty prefer to be on the Advisory Board.   Bruce will update the website.  Pending - SLF letterhead to be updated.

2) Cynthia has not heard back from Jennifer.  She will follow up.   It has been a very busy start to the new school year as they were closed for Hurricane Ida and school was closed again today due to the weather. 

3) Shining Light Bash - it was decided to postpone any decision until next year due to the recent Covid variant.  

4) Carolyn reported that Prof Erny has retired and his son has taken over the business.  She will get David’s email and clarify the escrow amount.

Sandra has emailed the Approval Letter and Approval Notification to Bonnie Smith.

Old Business

1) A $500 donation was made to United Way for school supplies Stuff the Bus previously approved via email by board members.

2) Julie completed the Shining Light Newsletter to include photos of recent SLF donations.  Thank you Julie.  It has been uploaded to the Shining Light website.  The next newsletter will be scheduled 1st quarter 2022.
