Perry called the meeting to order.

Review of last months meeting.  All approved

 

  1. Joe corrected the date of the BASH for next year to 2019

  2. John mentioned concerns regarding the date of the BASH for next year.  His concerns are that we may think about the date for 2020 being on a different activities which may have caused attendance to be down last year.

His concerns were that too many other functions cause conflicts. 

  1. John mentioned trying to “sell” the BASH better this coming year..  Better marketing and visiting local stores, banks, etc.

  2. John mentioned expanding broadcasting and advertising, etc.

  1. Find more sponsors

  2. Carolyn donated $1000. Matched by UBS.  Mike donated T-shirts.  Kerry did a great job with sponsors.

  1. Do not change date

  2. Sponsorship increases marketing

  3. AOC advertising – she showed a great video she prepared for SLF.

  4. Get a letter to send for save the date.

  5. Ask for Corp Sponsorships

  6. Do not put band names on advertising.  The bands could change.

  1. Carolyn discussed moving SLF checking account to LiveOak WA.  All approved.  The acct will be transferred.

  2. Joe suggested Moncus Grant – Motion approved.  All in favor.

  3. There were no scholarship apps to review or approve

  4. Carolyn received an email from an individual from St. Martinville for a band instrument.  She referred them to the SLF website.

  5. Cynthia met with LPSS.  She said it was a “great impact”.  She said appx “100 attended”.  Cynthia said she spoke to many band directors.  Some directors asked why we do not use Laf Music.  Laf music does not rent instruments.  Cynthia mentioned more students are purchasing instruments now.  Cynthia meets with Principals on Sept 5.
