MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 6:00 pm

Guest Dr. Sayed was welcomed and she told of her experience in treating a young child.


On motion of Sandra, seconded by Don, Minutes of Meeting held on November 14, 2017 approved.


Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $24, 237.33
Donations: $300.00 Phyllis Griffard; $600.00 UBS Matching Gifts Program
Expenses: P. O. Box Rental fee paid by UBS Credit card $76.00 for 12 months
Carolyn advised that it is now possible to consolidate the Vanguard fund with our UBS holdings.
On motion of Bruce, seconded by Sandra, the Vanguard fund will be consolidated with our UBS holdings.
At the November 14, 2017 meeting It was approved that Shining Light would pay Liz Swinney with Broadmoor Elementary School up to $100.00 for books for her 2nd graders. The bill has been submitted for $97.36. Payment will be mailed.


Executive Director’s Report
Budget financial report submitted.
Joe and Carolyn will meet with Ryan Cazares the M.I. Library to see if there is any interest in partnering with them..


New Business
John was honored as a finalist in the LEF teacher of the year awards.


Discussion was held regarding the needs in St. Landry Parish. On motion of John a special committee was named who will try to meet with a committee in St. Landry Parish regarding our going into schools in Opelousas to aid children with field trips and musical instruments.

Committee: John, Joe, Troy, Tanya, and Don.


Cynthia will contact the 2 public charter schools in Lafayette to be sure they are aware of our programs.


Applications:
Requests from Woodvale Elementary School for 2 students for field trip to visit the State Capitol in Baton Rouge at a cost of $21.00 each:

Request from L. Leo Judice for 2 student for field trip May 10 to visit NASA at a cost of $50.00:
                            Joshua Evans
On motion of John, seconded by Julie, all requests approved.


BASH:
The Bash will be Tuesday, April 24, 2018.
