SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

 

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 6:00 pm

Guest: Verity French who would like to partner with Shining Light Foundation to develop a music internship program.  

 

Much discussion was held regarding her request to partner with our Foundation to sponsor a Porch Music Festival on June 10.  She would like to use the Foundation’s name for this fundraiser.  On motion of Perry, seconded by Carolyn, an ad hoc committee is appointed to study the pros and cons of this proposal and will meet Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 6:00 pm at 203 Waterside.

 

Subsequent to this meeting Verity Fench notified Carolyn that the committee meeting is not necessary as she has made other arrangements.

 

On motion of Bruce, seconded by Troy, Minutes of Meeting held March 6, 2017 approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $40,146.56
Donations: Pinhook Foundation $2,500.00; UBS $100.00; Janice Roane $50.00; Kerry Douglas $150.00; Cynthia Dauphin $150.00; Mildred Baker $150.00

 

Exeutive Director’s Report
Year to date budget financial report distributed.
Pinhook Foundation grant has been acknowledged.
Two applications were received from Ring Central and approved by e-mail vote:
 Prairie Elementary for Aubree’Lynn Johnson for $29.00, trip 4-11-17 to Audubon Zoo
 Ridge Elementary for 99 first grade students to go to Festival International at a cost of
 $336.00.
 On motion of Bruce, seconded  by John, these awards ratified.

 

New Applications
Requests from Prairie Elementary School for field trip to New Orleans on May 12 for 3 students:
     Samanta Fall, admission Aquarium; theater  $45.00
     Lyrik Sebille, admission    $35.00
     Charles Andrus, bus; museums (Parent pay $20.00) $25.00
On motion of John, seconded by Cheryl, requests approved.


Bash
Carolyn and John will be on Channel 15 on Monday, April 17.  Also Chubby if he is available.

 

The t-shirts are in and they are light blue, our first request.  Total cost of t-shirts $517.00 ($6.20 each) Mike will donate $260.00 and UBS will match that amount.

 

Mike ordered 250 meals.
Bruce will pick up red or green theater type tickets to be given out and turned in to Cynthia at the entrance to the buffet so that we have an accurate count of number of meals served.
Kerry will check on door prizes.  No decision was made on which ticket will be used for door prize.
Joe and Troy will again have the 50/50 raffle.
Kerry will invite the dance teachers.
Lana, Mildred and Dianne DeJean will sell t-shirts at a table inside again.

     7:00 - 8:00 Mike and Verity

 

Other volunteers welcome.
