MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, February 13, 2017 at 6:00 pm

Kermit Duhon with Travel Machine spoke to us about the possibility of a fund raiser by holding a raffle for a trip or cruise. This is something to be considered in the future.

Ms. Johnson teaches in the French Immersion Program at Myrtle Place Elementary. The Program needs help in raising enough money to send 19 students to Martinique in May.

On motion of Troy, seconded by Cynthia, Minutes of Meeting held January 11, 2017 approved.

Treasurer’s Report

Present balance: $28,762.59; and $28, 254.53 in escrow

Checks received: Joseph Cilano $27.75 overpayment; Dr. Don Ennis in January $500.00 donation; Janice Roane 1-27-17 $50.00 donation; Community Foundation of Acadiana Pugh Family Fund $3,000.00.

Payables: Prof Erny total amount due from 2009 to present $22,048.25.

It was agreed to pay Prof Erny the total amount due $22,048.25 and return the balance held in escrow to the general fund. The check will be delivered to Prof Erny with the understanding that this is the total amount due his store.

Executive Director’s Report

Grants:

Acadiana Center for the Arts grant would be given only for a specific program.

Gannett Foundation, due February 28, we will apply.

Pinhook Foundation, due May 31.

It was agreed that we will pay Joe $150.00 for these grant applications.It was noted that we did not get the Walmart grant.

New Business

Applications:

Requests from Woodvale Elementary School for 9 second grade students for field trip to Global Wildlife: bus $23.00, admission $7.00, feed cup for animals $2.00 = $32.00 each for the following or a total of $288.00.

On motion of John, seconded by Mike, requests approved.

John has 19 applications from Myrtle Place Elementary School for students for a trip May 30 to June 6, to Martinique at a cost of $1,200.00 per child. A deposit of $150.00 per child is due by February 25,2017. It was noted that 5 of the students are considered underserved. The trip has the approval of the Principal, but has not yet been approved by the School Board. Discussion was held and it was agreed that more information is needed.

Carolyn’s poster is approved.

John said the bands will be: Chubby Carrier, Corey Leday, Roddy Romero, Lil’ Buck Senegal, and Leroy Thomas.

The Cajun Navy Film to benefit Shining Light scheduled for June 13, 2017, details to be discussed at out next meeting.
