SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

 

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, April 4, 2016 at 6:00 pm

 

LOCATION:  UBS Financial Services, 1023 E. St. Mary Blvd., Lafayette, LA

Guests were welcomed.  Laney, her mother, and her teacher all told us of Laney’s planned trip to Chicago.  A photograph was taken with all three of them and John Broussard who had recommended Laney for the award.

 

On motion of Perry seconded by Sandra, Minutes of Meeting held March 14, 2016 approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $44,244.33
Received today: $26.50 refund from Woodvale Elementary School; Carolyn French $200.00; St. Martin Bank $300.00 for tickets; Carolyn $90.00.
We will be receiving a check from All Seasons Nursery for $600.00 which will be deposited later.  This is the result of the fund raiser held at All Seasons on Saturday, April 2.  Thanks to all who helped.

 

New Business
Applications:
Request from Prairie Elementary School for 1 student for field trip to McGee’s Landing Swamp Tour and Prehistoric Dinosaur Park on May 3:

 

         Ahmed Elgamel, $31.00.  Parent pay $10.00, Shining Light pay $21.00

 

On motion of John, seconded by Cheryl, award approved.

 

Cynthia Dauphin made a presentation today at the Net Working Luncheon regarding the Bash.
Community Partners cards are no longer accepted at Albertsons.
Sandra will update information on Face Book regarding the Bash.

Cheryl reported making a trip to John’s class at Acadiana High School to speak to the class and she thanked  him for the privilege of being invited and of observing how interested the students were in her subject.

 

Bash
John reports that as of now he has 6 bands lined up   We will need 2 extra hours at Vermilionville rather than the 1 extra hour we had  previously requested. 
Mike will call Millicent to make the arrangements.

 

Carolyn will contact Chris Wartelle and also others regarding publicity for the Bash.

 

Carolyn and Mike ordered 80 yellow t-shirts from T-Shirts Unlimited at a cost of $527.00.
Mike will donate $300  plus get a match of $300 for shirts.

 

Meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.

 

We will have a special meeting on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Grub Burger Bar, 1905 Kaliste Saloom Road.

 

Grub’s will donate 15% to us of the sale of orders from 4:00 to 10:00 pm  from people who mention Shining Light Foundation.
