MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 6:00 pm

On motion of Mike, seconded by Sandra, Minutes of Meeting held Monday, February 1, 2016 approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report:
Present balance:   $41,770.52
Grant received: $3,000.00, Community Foundation of Acadiana
Donation: Carolyn French $150.00 for special project

 

New Business:
New members Troy Kahler and Joseph Cilano welcomed.

 

Applications:
Requests from Edgar Martin Middle School for 2 students, Mikayla Dupuis and Lena Selph for field trip May 11-13 for Houston Enrichment Field Study Trip for $185.00 each after parent pays $200.00.  After discussion, it was agreed that Cheryl will contact the counselor to get more information.

 

Requests from Woodvale Elementary School for the following 6 students for Global Wildlife field trip April 25 at a cost of $34.00 each:

Requests from Woodvale Elementary School for the following students for field trip on May 6 to Capitol Park Museum and Zoo in Baton Rouge:

On motion of John, seconded by Cheryl, requests from Woodvale granted.

John proposed a special project:
That we fund a heart health program at Holy Family Catholic School in memory of a child there that died during an athletic activity.  The project will be for ten electrocardiograms at a cost of $15.00 each for needy students. 
Motion by John, seconded by Bruce, that we adopt this special project approved.
John will set up a time and date at the School for Carolyn to present the check.

 

Zydeco/Cajun Bash:
Publicity:         Bruce will appear on Channel 10 Meet Your Neighbor on March 16
                      Facebook: Sandra has invited 210 people: 21 confirmed; 53 maybe

 

T-shirts           Hayley has researched shirts and found a local place that will print the shirts for less than Hulco if they can put their small logo on the back.  We will try to get a sample.  Cynthia will contact Hulco to see if they would reduce their price if we allow a small logo on the back.
  A vote was taken and it was agreed that the shirts be red.
  Cost of shirts for sale will be at least $15.00 or cost plus $4.00

 

Meal:            Food will be same as last year, but food will only be served from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Bruce will reprint the tickets to make this specification.
  We will have use of the hall from 5:00 to 10:00 pm - 5 hours which includes 1
  hour extra at a cost of $200.00

 

Tickets:         Tickets will be $15.00 including the meal served from 6:00 to 8:00 pm
  Bruce will deliver the tickets to Carolyn on Friday
  Bruce will print complimentary tickets on yellow paper

 

Bands:         John has the following bands lined up:
                   Lil Buck, Cory Leday; Leroy Thomas; Chubby Carrier; Roddy Romero

A planning meeting for the Bash will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the UBS office.
