MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 6:00 pm

  Miss Shelby Williams, a senior at Lafayette High School, her mother Kim
    Williams, and Shelby’s younger brother

  Ms. Erin Fort, Teacher at Truman Elementary School

 

Miss Shelby Williams played two selections on her viola and sang an aria from one of her favorite operas.  Ms. LeBlanc a former teacher, of Shelby’s, has requested funding for Shelby’s choral activities.

 

Dr. Gerd Wuestermann spoke about activities at the Acadiana Center for the Arts about summer workshops for students up to age 15.

 

Ms. Erin Fort spoke about how the Do Re Me program led by the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra and Conservatory is a music curriculum for children in preschool and kindergarten at Truman Early Childhood Center.

 

Carolyn proposed that the Board allow Shining Light to accept the role of flow-through agency for funding the special project of $740.00 scholarship for Shelby Williams.  On motion of John, seconded by Bruce, motion approved.   Several Board members immediately donated funds for this special project and Bruce will keep records regarding special projects.

 

On motion of Bruce, seconded by Sandra, Minutes of Meeting held January 6, 2015 approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $27,492.95

 

Funds received: Check from Pugh Family Fund Community Foundation of Acadiana $3,000.00.

Requests from Woodvale Elementary School for 8 students for trip to Global Wildlife Center at a cost of $34.00 per student.

The T-shirt committee selected hunter green with Carolyn’s design on the back.
