MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 6:00 pm

On motion of Sandra, seconded by Bruce, Minutes of Meeting held Monday, September 8, 2014 approved.

 

Joslynn Stakes and Carolyn Barker explained the mission of the Bridge Ministry.  The Bridge Ministry invited us to a fund raiser, Boutique du Pont, at The Ark at River Ranch on November 8, 2014 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Sara Dore thanked those members who contributed to make it possible for one of the children at the Shelter to attend dance camp.

 

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $28,337.30
Donations received today: Albertson’s $62.01; George and Janice Roane $50.00
Carolyn proposed that we deposit $20,000.00 in the Franklin Templeton Income Fund.  On motion of Mildred, seconded by Bruce, it was agreed that we deposit the money in the A shares.

 

Applications:
Woodvale Elementary requests funds for 18 4th graders for a field trip on May 1, 2015 to Baton Rouge to visit the state capitol: $28.50 each for bus cost and $1.50 each for Old State Capitol video:

It was pointed out that the applications are on the old forms and that one teacher submitted more than 5 applications.  On motion of Sandra, seconded by Bruce, the discrepancies are waived and the requests approved.  Carolyn will contact the principal to find out if the students are on the free lunch program and to advise him where the teachers may obtain the 2014-2015 forms.

 

The Grants Committee met and submitted a request to the Pugh Foundation Fund for $3,000.00 per year for five years.
Thanks to Bruce for providing the lists of schools and 989 students we have helped to go on field trips and 305 students we have helped obtain musical instruments.

 

Dates for the 2015 fundraiser were discussed since April 15 is not available.  Mike will contact Vermilionville to find out if April 21 is available and John will contact Chubby to ask about the best date for the bands.
