On motion of Mike, seconded by Bruce, Minutes of Meeting held Monday, August 5, 2013 approved.

$500.00 through Community Foundation of Acadiana from Allied Waste
Services of Acadiana
Notice from Junior League of Acadiana that
Shining Light will be awarded a grant in the amount of $2,500.00 at
the awards ceremony at the City Club on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.
New
Business
The various notes, emails, and phone calls by and
between our friend Janice Roane, Carolyn, school personnel, and board
members was discussed at length. Subsequent to the meeting,
this issue was resolved in a way to everyone’s satisfaction.
A donation was made by George Roane IV through Lafayette Music for
the child’s trombone which Lafayette Music delivered directly
to Mrs. Green at Alleman School.
Cynthia will attend the meeting
of the counselors of Lafayette Parish Schools on September 27 at 8:00
a.m. at the Vermilion Conference Center. Bruce has furnished
brochures for her to distribute.
John suggested that we may want to consider amending our by-laws to include private schools together with Lafayette Parish Schools. After discussion, it was agreed that we table this unless and until we have much more funds available.

There
was a little uncertainty as to whether the parent wants to buy the
instrument or rent it.
On motion of John, seconded by Mike, that
John will check with the teacher to be sure the parent wants to rent
the instrument, and on that condition, the award is granted.
