SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, June 6, 2011 at 5:30 pm

On motion of Lana, seconded by Cynthia, Minutes of Meeting held May 2, 2011 approved.

Treasurer's Report

Present balance: $21,533.83. We are waiting on Prof Erny’s invoice for $5,954.78. Our fiscal year ends 7/31/2011. Bruce will compile a list of students for Carolyn. Carolyn will contact Michelle to check with Prof Erny to verify that the students picked up the instruments. There is a $10,000 CD that will mature. It will be renewed for one year. The endowment fund will be merged with the regular checking account so that only one fee is paid. We received a $30.00 donation from George & Janice Roane on behalf of Patrick Roane.

Old Business

Cynthia will call Sylvan as a follow up on the two students previously approved and also find out if the tutoring is to the end of the summer.

New Business

Cynthia will contact Lafayette School Board to find out when the counselors are scheduled to meet. We received two results forms from Sahvanna Thomas and Natalie Taylor of Prairie Elementary: “Happy to attend NASA Field Trip”. The board discussed creating a thank you form letter for the children to fill in on the back of the feedback form. Cynthia will develop a draft.

New Applications

We received requests from J Wallace James Elementary after our prior monthly meeting. They were tentatively approved via telephone for a field trip to the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans on May 18, 2011. The fee is $25.00 for the charter bus, and $5.00 entry fee to the zoo for two students: Derrick Willis and Deltrick Barber. Total: $60.00. On motion from John, seconded by Cynthia, the applications were approved.
