Business
Carey Lemoine, a teacher at Prairie Elementary
School, spoke to the Board requesting support for a book project that
is an on-going program at Prairie Elementary. Ms. Lemoine
related that the 4th and 5th grade classes at Prairie Elementary have
each written a book about their activities during the school year.
Once the books are published, the cost of each book and shipping cost
is approximately $18.00 per book. Of the 67 students involved,
14 cannot afford to buy a book, even though their picture may be in
the book.
After discussion by the Board, Motion by John, seconded by Julie, that provided we receive completed applications and that Ms. Lemoine ask that the parents pay 25% of the cost or whatever amount they can, request to pay for the books is granted.

motion of John, seconded by Julie, all requests are
approved.
However, John will talk with Counselor Simmons at Duson
Elementary and advise her that we have a 5 student per class limit on
requests in the future.
In discussing requests from Christy Sharon with Sylvan Learning Center at our meeting on April 4, since no applications were received, Michelle agreed to call Christy to find out the status of the two children seeking tutoring at Sylvan.
