SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

 

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, December 6, 2010, at 5:30 pm

 

LOCATION:  UBS Financial Services Office, 1021 E. St. Mary Blvd., Lafayette, LA

On motion of Cynthia, seconded by Julie, Minutes of Meeting held November 1, 2010 approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $22,195.73 which includes $1,838.50 in the Endowment Account
Donations received: George, Patrick and Janice Roane dated 11-2-2010 $30; and George and Janice Roane dated 11-23-10 $30.
On motion of Bruce, seconded by Mike, that $5,000  be transferred from our regular account to our Endowment Account, approved.
By the next meeting Carolyn and Mike will draw up a plan setting out the purpose of the Endowment Account and under what circumstances withdrawals are to be made and transferred to the regular account.

 

Old Business
In connection with the request received at the November 1, 2010 meeting from Carencro Heights School for Jekel Woods for a flute, which was approved conditionally, Cynthia was able to contact the teacher and the parent, after many attempts, and it was revealed that the Application was in error and that the student already has a flute and needed only replacement flute pads at a cost of $80.00 and the parent will pay 25% or $20.00 and Shining Light will pay 75% or $60.00.
Upon presenting this information to Carolyn, the requested change in the Application was approved.

 

In connection with the requests received at the November 1, 2010 meeting from Broadmoor Elementary for Norgelis Hidalgo for field trip 10-19-10; and from Duson Elementary for field trips on 10-25-10 for Yerimi Infante, Malachi Kirkland, Heaven Carter and Hillary Johnson, which were all approved on condition the students did go on the trips (since the dates had passed) and that the teachers needed reimbursement, it was determined by Carolyn that all students did make the trips, thus the checks were mailed for these reimbursements.

 

New Business
New Applications

Requests from Prairie Elementary School for field trip May 13, 2010 to New Orleans for $40.00 each: bus $10.00, admissions costs $30.00 each:

On motion of John, seconded by Cynthia, requests approved.
