MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, September 13, 2012 at 5:30 pm

On motion of Mike, seconded by Bruce, Minutes of Meeting held Monday, August 30, 2010 approved.

Larry and Glory Erny were recognized for their efforts in working with Shining Light Foundation to ensure that eligible students who had been granted an award by Shining Light, and together with their parent or parents, received the best service possible from Prof Erny’s Music.  Certificate of Appreciation was presented and photos were taken for our future newsletter.

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $25,121.49
Donations received today: George and Janice Roane $30; Community Partners $40.76;
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Lafayette $270.00

New Business
On September 2, 2010 Michelle received 3 applications from Prairie Elementary School for musical instruments and was advised by the counselor that the requests could not wait for our September 13 meeting.  Michelle, authorized by President Carolyn French, conducted a vote via e-mail and the following applications were approved:

 Jonathan Perez, saxophone   $355.00 less parent 25% $266.50
 Catherine Fuselier, flute   $250.00 less parent 25%   187.50
 Denzel Simon, clarinet   $250.00 less parent 25%   187.50

Requests from Myrtle Street Elementary School as follows:

On motion of John, seconded by Michelle, awards granted.

Discussion was held regarding applying for the Community Foundation of Acadiana grant which is due October 15.

Carolyn, Cynthia, and Bruce attended the Principals’ meeting and were well received.  There will not be a teachers’ meeting on September 30.

Discussion was held regarding Larry and Glory Erny appearing on John’s radio show with a mother and her 3 children who had been inspired by one of the children learning to play a musical instrument.  John will check on this with the manager and also the possibility of the appearance at N.P. Moss Elementary School as a motivational program.
