MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Tuesday, June 1, 2010

On motion of Julie, seconded by Cynthia, Minutes of Meeting held May 3, 2010 approved.

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $25,270.52
Received this date: check from Broadmoor Elementary for $28, refund for student Laci Maniscala who withdrew from school prior to field trip.

Bruce will check to see if the Junior League report is due June 15.
We received a letter denying our request for Pugh Family Foundation grant.

Larry and Glory Erny welcomed and honored for all the assistance they provide for students who have received Shining Light Foundation awards.  A photo was taken to be submitted to the newspaper and for our next Newsletter.

Susan Besse, a CPA, from Rayne welcomed.  Ms. Besse is interested in starting an organization similar to Shining Light in Acadia Parish, in particular in Rayne.

Old Business
Bruce advised the application form on the website has been updated.

Cynthia advised that she had called Carol Mays at J. W. Faulk Elementary School to see if there is any interest in starting a band at J. W. Faulk but because it was the end of the school term she had not reached her.

Meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.
Next meeting will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 5:30 pm at the UBS office, 1020 E. St.Mary.
