James Simmons was invited to discuss with our Foundation what schools K-6 do not have school bands and what, if anything, can be done to encourage more students to participate in band in those schools that do have a band.  His suggestion is to contact Carol Mays at J. W. Faulk Elementary School to find out if we could help stimulate an interest by the students in a band.  It was agreed that Cynthia will contact Carol Mays for a meeting, and that possibly Michelle and Hayley will work with Cynthia in trying to generate interest at that school.

Christy Sharon was invited to meet with our Foundation to discuss the pre-K and K reading program offered at Sylvan.  She said she would have to look at a significant scholarship, but the students would have to be tested first and the plan calls for 40 -100 hours of intervention.

Old Business
Hayley had contacted the teacher at Ernest Gallet Elementary School who had made application for a student to participate in a reading program sponsored by LSU at a cost of $299.  The teacher admitted she knew very little about the reading program, only what was on the flyer she had received.  No decision was made regarding this application.
