Minutes
of Meeting held Monday, February 1, 2010 amended insofar as the total
amount of request per student from Woodvale Elementary for field trip
to New Orleans should be $27.00 each rather than $27.50. On
motion of Bruce, seconded by Michelle, Minutes approved.
Treasurer’s
Report
Present balance: $24, 482.52
Carolyn recommended that we
set up a separate account in an endowment fund. It was agreed
unanimously that the account be set up.
Old
Business
Newsletters have been mailed to counselors, band
directors, donors, and state and federal representatives. Other
donor names and addresses will be added to the donor list as they
become available.
Bruce was asked to print more brochures and
brochures will be mailed later.
New
Business
Cynthia Attended Community Foundation workshop for
non-profits. She reported on the meeting and it was their
suggestion that we put the Newsletter on our website, which Bruce
will do. We will continue to work on Donor Sense and the Pugh
Foundation Grant application.
Re Grants:
We have applied
for Classic Women Awards grant.
If we get this award, we will then
apply to Wal-Mart under their rules, for matching funds.
Cynthia
will file the application with Gannett which is due March 10.
New

Request from Prairie Elementary for 1 student
for field trip to New Orleans:
Normalynn Collins (no
breakdown of costs) $40.00
Requests from Prairie
Elementary for 2 students for field trip to NASA (no breakdown in
costs):
Tyrian Arceneaux, $60, less parent contribution of
$20, $40.00
Cameron Arceneaux, $60, less parent
contribution of $10, $50.00
On Motion by
Michelle, seconded by Mike, requests approved on condition that we
receive the proper information regarding breakdown of costs.
Carolyn
will invite James Balkenhol and Buddy Van Wyck to our next meeting to
speak to us on suggestions of how to encourage more students to join
the school bands.
