motion of Sandra, seconded by Bruce, Minutes of Meeting held Monday, April 7,
2008 approved.
Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $18,941.16. A pending credit of $2,385.13 will bring the
balance to $21,326.30 at the end of the fiscal year, July 31.
Total scholarships for 2007-2008 $6,067.08; expenses $140.00; donations and
grants $4,648.50;
interest $976.38
Donation received this date: $30 from George and Janice Roane in honor of Patrick
Roane.
Requests
received from Evangeline Elementary School on April 23, 2008, were handled ex
parte and granted to Asia Faulk for field trip to New Orleans $37.50 plus
Festival International $4 and Bach Lunch $4, less $13.50 paid by parent for a total
of $41.50;
and to Isaiah Faulk for field trip to New Orleans $34.50, less $8.63 paid by
parent for a total of $25.87.
Old Business
Bruce obtained the mailing address for Kiwanis Club of Acadiana, P. O. Box
53505, Lafayette 70505.
At the time of the next meeting Bruce will plot the applications and dollars
spent for each year for field trips, musical instruments, special projects.
New Business
Bruce went to a grant writing class. He will submit the Braitmayer
request but is not hopeful. He has an application for Wal-Mart and hopes
to submit it soon. He is looking into the Phish Foundation but it does
not look good. He asked Mike to check with Rotary. He also advised
that Chevron has a program for retirees whereby Chevron will match what any
retiree or employee donates including a value put on hours donated. He
will fill out a request for 20 hours for a $500 donation. If any one
knows any other retirees of Chevron please let us know.
Michelle
will revise the Application for Musical Instrument to reflect that musical
instruments must be picked up within 30 days after the approval letter.
She will also notify Prof Erny’s.

Requests
from Duson Elementary on behalf of 2 students to attend summer day camp denied
and Carolyn will send a letter of regret to Duson Elementary that these
requests are beyond the scope of our organization.
Other Business
John Broussard, co-host of the Zydeco Est Pas Sale’ program on Saturday
mornings on KRVS 88.7 FM will receive an Award on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at
Vermilionville recognizing his contributions to Creole culture.
