SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, April 7, 2008 at 5:30 pm

LOCATION:  Smith Barney Office, 400 E. Kaliste Saloom, Lafayette, LA

On motion of John, seconded by Cynthia, Minutes of Meeting held Monday, March 3, 2008 approved.

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $18,872.59
Donation received this date $30 from George and Janice Roane in honor of Patrick Roane.
Expenses: $100 fee for checking account.

Old Business
Bruce needs 16 forms awarding scholarships to update the website archives.
The newsletter has been completed and approximately 80 copies mailed out.
The President’s letter in the Newsletter suggested the possibility of a branch of Shining Light being established in Vermillion Parish, however, it has been decided that we will provide help but the volunteers there should have their own organization.  Carolyn will email Purchis Cartwright.

New Business
Bruce will circulate a proposed copy of the request for grant to be submitted to Braitmayer for any comments or suggestions.

Carolyn will go on John’s radio show to talk about Shining Light when John feels he can fit it into the program schedule.

New Applications:
Request from Ernest Gallet Elementary School for Tiana Victoria for field trip to the Planetarium and Incredible Pizza for $12.
On motion of John, seconded by Mike, award approved.

Meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm.
