Guests were welcomed. They are here to observe and get
information regarding the possibility of starting a branch of Shining Light
Foundation in Vermillion Parish.
On
motion of Bruce, seconded by Julie, Minutes of Meeting held February 18, 2008
approved.
Treasurer's Report
Present balance: $19,125.37
Donation: George and Janice Roane in honor of Patrick Roane $25.00.
Scholarships awarded this fiscal year amount to $5,835.08, however
approximately $2,000 of this amount, while committed, is for instruments which
have never been picked up.
On motion of Bruce, seconded by Julie, we will buy a 6 month certificate of
deposit.
Old Business
Newsletter is ready awaiting President’s letter.
New Business
Bruce is appointed to the Grants Committee.
Julie has information regarding two possibilities for grants: Mockingbird
Foundation-The Phish Group, purpose to stimulate interest in young people in
music, due in August. Julie is not sure what their criteria would be.
Braetmire Foundation - awards up to $10,000 upon submission of a proposal by
June 1. Our Foundation does meet the criteria for this award. Bruce
will put together a proposal to submit.
Bruce and Julie will check to find out when the Kiwanis pancake meal is
scheduled.
