SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, February 18, 2008 at 5:30 pm

On motion of Julie, seconded by Bruce, Minutes of Meeting held January 8, 2008 approved.

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $19,487.80
Donations received: Delta Air Lines via Bruce $336; Janice & George Roane/ Patrick Roane $25
Expenditures: $5 paid by Carolyn to the Secretary of State; $7.50 paid to Evangeline Elementary for Instructional Fee for Isiah Faulk which had been approved via e-mail vote.
The check issued for $10 to J. W. Faulk Elementary School for Jennifer Hurst for field trip is cancelled as Michelle was unable to find out from the teacher if the child went on the field trip.
On September 6, 2007 request from Live Oak Elementary for Kenyon Leopold was approved for $93.00, however when he picked up his instrument from Prof Erny’s Shining Light’s 75% of the instrument rental totaled $100.50 said amount included in Prof Erny’s bill which has been paid.

Old Business
Julie has the Newsletter ready except for the president’s letter.
Bruce has new brochures but will check to be sure Cynthia’s name is included in Board of Directors.

New Business
Julie has information regarding two possible grants.  Bruce agreed to get the information from Julie and if appropriate, will put applications together to be submitted.

New Applications:
Request from Woodvale Elementary for field trip to NASA for Raylon Herndon $27.75 bus, tour facility $5.50, lunch $7.95 for a total of $41.20.

Requests from Broadmoor Elementary for field trip to NASA in amounts of bus $27.00, entry $10.00, lunch $6 each for the following students for a total of $430.00:
 Michael Edmond, Joshua Damielle, Victoria Kedinger, Domingue Francis,
 Benjamin Alvey, Malik Jean Louis, Zaloncea’ Augustine, LaShale Dean, Sidnee Campbell,
 and Montrea Harrison
On motion of John, seconded by Julie, all applications approved.

Meeting adjourned at 6:30 pm.  Next meeting scheduled for Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Smith Barney Office, 400 E. Kaliste Saloom.
