MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, October 9, 2006 at 5:30 pm

On motion of Julie, seconded by Mike, Minutes of Meeting of September 11, 2006 approved.

On motion of John, seconded by Mike, that we pay Sylvan Learning Center $50 each for a total of $250 for the following students who attended the Math Camp July 31 thru August 4:

On motion of Michelle, seconded by John, all applications approved.

Discussion was had regarding whether or not the students we give awards continue musical participation.  John agreed to contact Buddy Van Wick, Band Director at 3 schools, and ask for his help in monitoring the progress in the following ways:
 1) Does the student finish the school year playing the instrument;
 2) Does the student sign up for band next year;
 3) Does the student participate in band throughout high school;
 4) Does the student graduate from high school; and
 5) Does the student go on to college.

All agreed it would be advantageous to have a reception in early December for the band directors and counselors to acquaint them with the goals of Shining Light Foundation.  More will be discussed at the November meeting.
