SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, August 14, 2006 at 5:30 pm

LOCATION:  Smith Barney Office, 400 E. Kaliste Saloom, Lafayette, LA

There are no minutes of July meeting as it was a summer get-together.

Treasurer’s Report
Present balance: $17, 271.89
Donations received: Gannett Foundation Grant $5,000; Kenneth Privat for The Florence Mauboules Charitable Trust $500.00; Sandra R. Wilcox $100.
The Grant received from Gannett will be included in the Treasury balance at the end of our fiscal year which ended July 31.
Ruth Duhon has made up 200 bags of supplies for schools and would like to distribute them to more than the number of schools previously approved.  She had a balance of $22.23 left from the $200.00 given her to spend, and it was agreed by all present to give that sum to Ruth for gasoline used in her efforts to find the best prices for the school supplies.

Old Business
Julie will prepare an additional Newsletter in September.
Bruce will print about 20 brochures to have available for the next meeting.
Julie will check with Michelle to see if she has sent out the new application forms.
The revised Scholarship Evaluation Form was reviewed and will be sent by Carolyn along with the checks for scholarships and awards to the various schools in order to measure our success.

New Business
Sandra Wilcox named Chairman of Membership Committee.  She will compile a list of members and donors starting with this fiscal year.

Meeting adjourned at 6:30 pm.

Next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 5:30 pm.

There will be a special meeting on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 5:30 pm to consider any new applications.
