SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: May 15, 2006

LOCATION/TIME: Smith Barney office, 400 E. Kaliste Saloom,

Lafayette, La. 5:30PM to 6:30PM

Guest: Eric Nida from ULL attended the meeting to learn more about Shining Light and to determine if an apprenticeship with Shining Light would satisfy his class requirements. His need to dedicate up to 10 hours a week may not be able to be met. He will let us know.

Copies of minutes of meeting held April 3rd, 2006 was distributed, reviewed and approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

The Treasurer’s Report was provided by Bruce Snow, approved by Robert Hodge and a second from Julie Eaton, and approval by all. A Cash Flow Document for Fiscal Year 2005/2006 was provided by Bruce Snow. Recapping:

Scholarships - $ 3614.83

Expenses - $ 145.00

Donations - $ 1107.75

Interest - $ 598.15

Balance - $17,339.72

Also provided was a summary of scholarships by school, to date, for the 2005/2006 school year.

Copies of both documents are available, either in hard copy or on the website.

The Board agreement to roll over to a new CD, the $5,000 CD that matured April 21, 2006. This was accomplished by investing in a 5.1% CD that matures in 9 months.

NEW BUSINESS

Congratulations to Hayley LeJeune, Julie Eaton and Carolyn French!! Thanks to their efforts to submit the Grant request to Gannett Publishers, a $5000 Grant was approved for Shining Light!!
