2006 approved.
Treasurer's Report
We have made about $450 interest on our certificates of deposit.
Old Business
Bruce handed out copies of the interim or temporary brochures. One correction
to the brochure will be made in that it should specify that awards will be made
to students in grades K-6 not grades K-5.
New Business
Guest Gary Cheramie who works for Halliburton Services advised that
Halliburton awards many grants during the year. Information was provided
to him to apply for a Halliburton grant for Shining Light Foundation. He
promised to keep us updated.
Carolyn handed out at the breakfast meeting at Sylvan Learning Center on
February 3. Carolyn said several counselors had good comments on the
brochures. One of their suggestions was to distinguish the Application
for musical instruments from Applications for other awards. Michelle has
added musical notes to the Application for musical instruments.
Carolyn advised that the Chamber of Commerce breakfast for new teachers
previously scheduled for August has been cancelled.
Some counselors have requested that we include Pre-K grades in our awards.
This may conflict with our By-Laws and Bruce will check on this and Michelle
will speak with some of the counselors to determine the real need for this
change.
