MINUTES OF MEETING HELD:            Monday, March 14, 2005, at 5:30 pm

On motion of John Broussard, seconded by Julie Eaton, reading and approval of Minutes of Meeting held February 14, 2005 waived.

 

Treasurer’s Report

Present balance is $20,049.44.

To date, $3,914.67 has been paid out in grants this fiscal year.

On motion of Mike Huber, seconded by John Broussard, it was agreed to invest $5,000.00 in a 6 month Certificate of Deposit.

 

Old Business

Bruce is in the process of updating the website.

Hayley is work on the brochure.

John and Michelle will work on the Application forms.

Bruce spoke with Robert Hodge who will be revising the By-Laws to reflect 12 members on the Board of Directors and change the fiscal year to August 1 through July 31.

 

New Business

Hayley prepared, with Bruce’s assistance, and mailed the quarterly report required by the Junior League in connection with their Grant to Shining Light, on March 14.  Next report due June 14, 2005.

 

New Applications:

From Evangeline Elementary School, 1 request for $20 for Iaiah Arceneaux; 3 requests for $21 each for Darcus Joseph; Dontrell Narcisse; and Allen Arceneaux for field trips March 14 through March 18 to the Zoo, public library, airport, Jean Lafitte Cultural Center, UL Tour, a movie and a jazz presentation, for a total of $83.00.

 

From Alice Boucher Elementary School, 6 requests for $20 each for Hillary Robertson; Mareshia Syon; Nakevia Jack; Ebonie Malveaux; Danasia Benjamin; and Jakeyla Chavis, for field trip on May 5, 2005 to Baton Rouge to visit the State Capitol, Governor’s Mansion, and the Greater Baton Rouge Zoo, for a total of $120.00.

 


From Ernest Gallet Elementary School, 1 request for $10 for Durius Lazare to attend play at the Heymann Center; 1 request for $9 for Calelymon (sic) Carter to attend play at the Heymann Center; 4 requests for $25 each for Joseph St. Julien; Markal George; Mycheala Prejean; and Angelique Lazare for a field trip to New Orleans to tour the Aquarium, for a total of $119.00.

 

From Duson Elementary School, 2 requests for $9 each for Aunyka Andrus and Taylor Brown to go on a field trip to the Children’s Museum, $5, bus $2, and souvenir $2, for a total of $18.00.

 

From Broadmoor Elementary School, 7 requests for $37 each for Joseph Solomon; Draylon Francis; Dondre’ Francis; Hailey Franklin; Tony Francis; Katelshia St. Julian; and LaNiquia Andrus for field trip to Johnson Space Center in Houston, $9 entrance to NASA, $22 bus and $6 lunch, for a total of $259.00.

 

On motion of Mike Huber, seconded by Bruce Snow, all of the above requests approved.
