SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

 

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD:    February 14, 2005

Hayley brought in a cake cookie for the meeting with the words- “Happy Valentines Day Shining Light”

 

There were no guests in attendance.

 

Copies of minutes of meeting held January 10th, distributed, reviewed and moved to approval by Michelle and seconded by John.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:        

Tony showed the board a revised Treasurer’s Report.  Account balance as of 2/13/05 was $20,049.91.  Grants awarded from 8/1/04 through 2/13/05 total $3881.10. 

 

There was request for Grants to be identified by school, and agreement to do it.

 

Motion by Mike, Second by John, and Board agreement to roll over the $5,000 CD that just matured.  This was accomplished.

 

OLD BUSINESS

Bruce has the book “Grant Writing For Dummies” which was purchased for Shining Light.  Available to anyone that needs.

Bruce going to collect press clippings and releases.

 

The Junior League specified Grant was for fiscal year which ends 8/1/05.  Concern that may not spend all the dollars by then.   

Hayley going to contact schools that Shining Light provided instruments to, and determine if any supplies are needed.

There was discussion re getting pictures of students that received musical instruments.

 

 NEW BUSINESS

Applications:  Ivory Landry of J.W. Faulk requested funding for 1 musical recorder and book.  Total $15.57.

 

Josua Ryan and Mia Marvant of E Gallet requested funding for a field trip.  Literature related activity and professional performance to be attended by children.  Cost was $18.00 per child for total of $36.00.  

 

Application from 3rd school for outside activity for 6 children.  Decision that a call be made to school and get additional information.   Cost was $20 per student for total of $120

The next Shining Light meeting is scheduled for March 14th at 5:30 p.m. at the Smith Barney office, 400 East Kaliste Saloom Road.
