SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, April 12, 2004 at 5:30 pm

Guest, Veleeda Reihle,
Gannett Foundation Manager, South Louisiana Publishing, was introduced. Gannett Foundation announced that it is
awarding a $5,000 grant to Shining Light Foundation. There will be an official session announcing the award and
acceptance by Carolyn French, President, on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 2:00
pm, at The Advertiser office, 221 Jefferson Street. There will be photos taken at that time.
On motion by Michelle,
seconded by Julie, Minutes of Meeting of March 8, 2004, approved.
Treasurer’s Report
Present balance is
$10,049.86, plus $5.00 donation by Robert Hodge and $5,000 award from Gannett
Foundation.
Donation of equipment: Smith
Barney has donated a computer. Motion
by John, seconded by Julie, that if Lou Montgomery is willing to keep up with
donor lists and awards to students re musical instruments, that we place the
computer to Lou. Motion approved. Carolyn will discuss this with Lou.
At the previous meeting Bruce
agreed to check with a CPA to attempt to get help and advice for our group but
Bruce reported that his CPA is not interested.
Robert contacted a CPA, Nathan Weber, who is interested and he will get
with us after tax season.
Internal Revenue Form will be
mailed by Robert, reflecting gross income for 2003 of $5,428.74.
Old Business
Bruce reported our web site
is located at www.Shining Light Foundation.org
There is a $50 expense for
rights to use photo, expense approved.
A power point presentation of
our web site was presented by Bruce.
Carolyn, Bruce and John will
attend the Kiwanis luncheon on April 22, 2004 where Carolyn will be a guest
speaker.
Tony is out of town today but
reported that he is having the stationery and envelopes printed.
New Business
On motion of Julie, seconded
by John, applications from Alice Boucher School to award $15 for bus and $5 for
admission to the Zoo in Baton Rouge to Tiere Pete, Daniel J. St. Julien,
Christian Acosta, and Luther Tolliver, approved.
On motion of John, seconded
by Michelle, application from Acadian Middle School to award Brea Hamilton
$41.25 to be paid to Prof Ernie’s Music for our share of the lease of
percussion instruments, approved.
Meeting adjourned at 6:50 pm.
