MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, June 30, 2003 at 5:30 p.m.

Old Business

Carol Mahagan announced that the Newsletter has been mailed.

Fund raiser:

Julie Eaton announced that the Bachelor Auction fund raiser will be Friday, July 18,2003 at 7:00 pm at the Jefferson Street Pub, 500 Jefferson St. (Across from Teche Drug & Gift Store). There will be a $5 cover charge to get in and this money all goes to Shining Light.

We are planning to have 10 bachelors to auction and Artmosphere Restaurant on Johnston Street is donating 20 dinners following the auction.

Sarah Libby with Channel 10 will be the MC/Auctioneer. Julie will call to see if Channel 10 will send a cameraman.

Members of the band Straw Boss will provide music following the auction, but they do need a sound system. John Broussard will try to secure a DJ during the auction and will find out if the DJ would provide his sound system for the band.

Mike and John will be door keepers and Mike will contact someone to provide security at the door. Mildred will pass out brochures and accept donations. Julie, Carolyn and Michelle will accept the money from the bidders. Michelle will ask about using a credit card machine so that we can accept credit cards.

Carol will get copies of proposed thank you letters to be sent. Julie will contact Robert Hodge to get form of waivers to be signed and also to inquire about whether liability insurance is necessary.

Additional bachelors are needed. Please contact Julie at 857-7289 or e-mail jules73@hotmail.com with names of any you think would be interested in donating their evening.

New Business

The possiblity of adding a new program to Shining Light entitled D.A.I.S.Y. - Dyslexic Adults in Support of Youth was discussed and will be presented to the Board for comment and decision at a later date.

It was determined that another meeting should be held prior to the fund raiser. All members are urged to attend if at all possible.

Next Meeting will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at 5:30 pm, Smith Barney Office, 400 E. Kaliste Saloom.
