MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: Monday, May 12, 2003, at 5:30 p.m.

On motion of Julie Eaton, seconded by Melissa Douet, Minutes of Meeting of April 14, 2003, approved.

Letter from IRS acknowledging receipt of Shining Light’s recently submitted request regarding tax free status -- referred to Robert Hodge.

Thank you note from Susan Morton with Acadiana Symphony for the donation of violins.

Treasurer’s Report

We have a balance of $6,127.14.

Learning Fairy contributed $7 to Shining Light which she was given when she appeared at the Casa Run/Walk of Hope on May 3, 2003.

The Foundation has now awarded 94 grants.

Old Business

Fund Raisers:

Carolyn and Mike reported that Sara Todora, singer, may be interested in putting on a concert and donating halff of the proceeds to Shining Light and/or a 3 way split with Faith House. Michelle will look into when to have such a concert and what the cost will be. Motion by Robert Hodge, seconded by Julie Eaton, to investigate the possibility of have a 3 way split concert, possibly in July, approved.

Other fund raisers discussed: possible bachelor auction or a play at Cite’ d artes for a share of the proceeds.

New Business

Carolyn French and Michelle Izzo named as Publicity Committee.

Next meeting will be held on Monday, June 9, 2003 at 5:30 p.m., poolside at Carolyn and Mike’s home, 203 Waterside Drive. Bring your bathing suit.
