SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD: January 13, 2003, 5:30 p.m.

On motion of Melissa Douet, seconded by John Broussard, Minutes of Meeting of December 9, 2002, approved.

Amendments to the rejection letter were suggested and approved by all members present.

Motion by Julie Eaton, seconded by Robert Hodge, that copies of the Minutes of Meetings held in December, together with copy of Agenda for January 13, 2003 Meeting, and the brochure be mailed to all absent members, approved.

At their request, the names of Penny M. Black and Katharine Schendel are removed from the Member List.

Treasurer’s Report:

Present balance: $6,619.86

Old Business

John Broussard will move the candle to replace the “I” on the logo for the return address labels.

Fund raisers: Nothing immediately pending.

Learning Fairy: Melissa submitted proposed brochure. Carol will scan the drawing of Learning Fairy done in color to be printed on a color copier.

New Business

New Applications were sent out to schools by Melissa - 70 packets: 35 principals and guidance counselors. Melissa submitted a copy of the letter sent to Guidance Counselors along with Applications for Scholarships. No new applications were received this month.

Carol Mahagan submitted our first Newsletter for approval and it was received enthusiastically. The “Bright Ideas Newsletter” will be published and mailed to donors, absent members, and other interested parties quarterly.

John Broussard has a friend who would like to donate a trombone in the name of Shining Light Foundation to a needy child. John will call Mr. Breaux at N.P. Moss Elementary to see if there is a child in need of such an instrument.
