SHINING LIGHT FOUNDATION

 

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD:            Monday, September 9, 2002, 5:30 P.M.

On motion by Dana Brignac, seconded by Julie Eaton, Minutes of meeting of May 13, 2002 approved.

On motion by Julie Eaton, seconded by Mildred Baker, Minutes of meeting of August 12, 2002 approved.

 

Carolyn French reported that the Foundation has a present balance in its Salomon Smith Barney account of $6,393.00.

 

Louise Mitchell, representing American Association of University Women, asked that all members present be sure to vote in the October 5, 2002 election and invited the members to attend a Public Forum to be held Monday, September 16, 2002, to hear candidates running for Family Court Judge.  Carolyn French will appear on the John Broussard show on PBS Radio Station KRVS on Saturday morning, September 14, to help promote the Forum.

 

Old Business

Mike Huber will contact Margaret Patton and ask her to send the Letterhead form with corrections and ask her to replace the “I” in Light with the candle.

 

John Broussard volunteered to print the labels to be used as return address labels on envelopes.

 

Mildred Baker will redo the contribution letter with revisions discussed and send it to Mike.

 

Mike will call Melissa Douet to see if she has sent out the applications for scholarships as none have been received.

 

New Business

Julie Eaton reported that her company is leasing the old Bell South Building.  It would be a good location to set up booths to sell food during Mardi Gras.  She has contacted the city and they will send her a package of requirements in about 60-90 days.

 

Received two contributions: Jim Ziler - $50 and Glen and Sandra Ashy - $50.


It was agreed that a Special meeting be held in two weeks on Monday September 23, 2002, at 5:30 P.M., at the Salomon Smith Barney Office, 400 E. Kaliste Saloom.  Carolyn French asks that each person bring a list of ten people with names and addresses that each person will send a contribution letter to.
